From Hairdresser to Trichologist: Mandy’s Journey to Understanding Hair and Scalp Health

After over 40 years in the hairdressing industry, Mandy’s journey has taken many exciting turns. She has held numerous roles, including stylist, educator, sales and marketing specialist, stage presenter, and salon owner. Along the way, she has had the privilege of meeting talented professionals from around the globe.

“One of the aspects of my career I’m most passionate about is education and training for fellow hair professionals. From stage presentations and in-salon education to more recent online teaching, sharing knowledge has always been close to my heart.”

Mandy’s fascination with hair loss and scalp disorders began while working for Salon Success with the Paul Mitchell brand. She was invited to be part of a small team representing Nioxin, which led me to Atlanta, Georgia, for a week of intensive training. The knowledge gained there was nothing short of eye-opening. Armed with her Nioscope and Nioxin products, she travelled to salons across the UK, educating fellow stylists on the brand. She is a natural educator, understanding consumer needs, their fears relating to their hair and scalp, and supporting others to benefit from the right products and solutions.

Fast forward nearly two decades, and while running her own salon, Mandy noticed more and more clients experiencing hair loss and scalp issues that she couldn’t fully explain. She wanted to help them, and this curiosity led me to the study of Trichology. After researching different programs, she enrolled with Trichocare and began her journey toward becoming a certified Trichologist at the age of 52. Studying while managing her salon during the pandemic was a challenge, but the distance learning program allowed the flexibility to fit it into her life. After two years of hard work, Mandy became proudly qualified in September 2021.

It is here where Mandy’s journey joins with the Root Cause Clinical family. As one of the founding cohort members, she has undertaken the Continuing Professional Development programmes that provide the consistent standard that all family members deliver to our clients. Her natural educator instinct has already been seen in her support of other trichologists.

Mandy is already supporting clients in their hair and scalp health journey. She is available for video consultations and is located in Cheshire for in-person consultations and follow-on treatments which require in-person clinical support.
