What to Expect From Your Consultation
Your consultation provides you with the likely diagnosis causing your hair loss and scalp condition, giving you facts, knowledge and clarity. This diagnosis allows us to discuss a treatment plan that covers three areas - self-care, clinical care and medical care - where appropriate.
Self-care covers cosmetic care such as products, hair/scalp maintenance and supplements.
Clinical care covers specific treatments that can be delivered to your address or delivered in clinic.
Medical care covers referrals to our unique specialist healthcare network who can personalise your prescribed treatment.
We will save you time and money by navigating you across these areas, and as a neutral and professional advisor we always provide options of different brands. We can recommend a follow-on consultation, and/ or a genetic testing consultation for specific hair loss conditions which provides us with valuable data that allows for more effective tailored treatments.
The root cause for many hair loss and scalp health conditions can be hormonal imbalances, auto-immune conditions and/ or blood deficiencies. Some example conditions include:
Telogen effluvium – Excessive hair shedding
Androgenic alopecia – Male/Female pattern hair loss
Alopecia areata - Patchy hair loss
Seborrheic dermatitis – Commonly known as scalp dandruff
The latest evidence suggests that around a third of women experience hormonal hair loss at some time in their life, rising to two-thirds post-menopause. Hair loss occurs in around 45% of men in their forties, rising to 70% for over sixties. Over 4% of the population will develop scalp psoriasis in their life-time, and a higher percentage for general scalp conditions.
Many of these conditions can be triggered by things such as menopause, POI, PCOS, cancer treatments, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), genetics, malnutrition, mental health anxieties and infections.
